* * *

Tess and Karmin threw a birthday dinner for mom but nobody really showed. Audrey was excused, it was her birthday. She and her husband were out of town. We knew Ian couldn’t make it but all were surprised Kylie didn’t show.

“What are you doing?”

“Peeling back the tape”

“But it’s Saturday”

Ignoring me she revealed a brick.

“I can come out tomorrow for the regular price
or I can be there within the hour at this rate”

It was more than twice as much but we couldn’t manage the leak. So when she asked me I asked her what she thought she should do.

Reparations “My Relationship with Mom”

My relationship with mom is irreparable. I realize my part in it. It wasn’t until I started to mature I saw her flaws. She’s always seen mine.

* * *

My expectations for her are extremely high.  They include what she’s taught me. My childhood’s been difficult because of that. Adulting hasn’t been easy.
